Dilofo is a mountainous village of Ioannina and it belongs to the complex of Zagorochoria in Epirus. It is built at an altitude of 900 meters on the slopes of Tymfι. The oldest name of the village until 1920 was Sopotseli, a name which in Slavic and Vlach means "place of many waters". Dilofo is one of the best preserved villages of Zagori. It is a characteristic example of Zagorian architecture, since all the buildings are made from local slate, which is also the reason why the village has been declared a traditional settlement where reconstruction and restoration are allowed only to old buildings.

Το Δίλοφο είναι ορεινό χωριό τού νομού Ιωαννίνων και ανήκει στο συγκρότημα των Ζαγοροχωρίων τής Ηπείρου . Είναι χτισμένο σε υψόμετρο 900 μέτρων στις πλαγιές τής Τύμφης.Το παλαιότερο όνομα τού χωριού μέχρι το 1920 ήταν Σοποτσέλι, ονομασία η οποία στα σλάβικα και βλάχικα σημαίνει "τόπος με πολλά νερά".Το Δίλοφο είναι από τα καλύτερα διατηρημένα χωριά τού Ζαγορίου. Είναι χαρακτηριστικό δείγμα Ζαγορίτικης αρχιτεκτονικής, καθώς όλα τα κτίσματα είναι φτιαγμένα από τον τοπικό σχιστόλιθο, γι' αυτό τον λόγο το χωριό έχει ανακηρυχθεί παραδοσιακός οικισμός, όπου μόνο ανακατασκευάζονται ή αναστηλώνονται παλαιά κτίρια.
